How to Steal Fish Eggs

Stealing is the whole game. Everything else — Trails, the endless pool, mutations — exists so this action succeeds more often. A steal has four beats: pick a nest, pick up, escape, deposit. Fail any beat and you wasted the swim.

This is not Steal an Egg’s land map. You are in water. Bosses shown in official art include a pink jellyfish on a pink cave floor and a shark in open blue reef. Before you leave the safe zone

Check three numbers:

• Swim Speed after pool ticks and the equipped Trail.
• Cash, so you know whether dying on this run delays Blue Trail.
• Egg tag if the nest already shows income. The jellyfish promo egg is labelled JELLYFISHEGG $89,121Sp/s. That is a lot of money and a lot of attention.

If another player is already lining up the same nest, either wait or pick a worse egg. Six-player servers mean contested clutches. Fighting the boss and a thief at once is how both of you drop the egg.

Pickup

Swim a straight line. Interact as soon as the prompt appears. Do not circle the nest for a cinematic. Official shots show small clutches of three eggs in a bowl-like nest — grab one and leave the rest unless you already know you can bank two trips. Carrying rules in this genre are usually one egg at a time. Assume that until a patch says otherwise.

The moment the egg is in your hands, your job is pathing, not combat. There is no prize for slapping the jellyfish.

Escape

Turn toward the safe zone, not toward a prettier cave. Bosses shown so far are faster than an untrained avatar. Trail multipliers are the difference between a boring bank and a drop in the open.

Abort if:

• The boss is closing and you still have a long swim.
• A second player is cutting your line home.
• You grabbed a far egg on Grey Trail “just to see.”

Dropping and living is better than dropping and also dying in a place that takes 40 seconds to walk back from. Then train. The endless pool is supposed to feel repetitive. That repetition is the real anti-boss tool.

Deposit and hatch

Cross into the safe zone, place the egg, start the hatch. Details are in how to hatch. Do not immediately run a second steal if your tank is unlocked and a predator is circling how to protect your base. One hatched fish in the tank beats two eggs you never banked.

Stealing from players versus nests

Nests are PvE. Other tanks are PvP. The official description lists both. Nest steals should be your default until Speed and a mid Trail are online. Player steals are covered in steal from players because the timing (lock windows, AFK pool trainers) is a different skill. Do not confuse them: a shark chase is not a raid, and a raid is not a boss.

Biome distance

Farther water is the whole point of Speed. We do not invent named biomes the developers have not listed. What we know: eggs spawn around the map, the safe zone is home, and a new biome is confirmed for 13 September 2026. Treat any nest you cannot see from spawn as a Speed gate. Read biomes before the patch so you already know to overshoot the recommended Speed instead of matching it.

Common steal mistakes

• Touring with the egg. You already won the pickup. Stop sightseeing.
• Buying Universal Trail to skip learning the route. 8x at $1.5 trillion is endgame. Grey and Blue teach the map.

• Chasing 0.01% rainbow eggs as a beginner. Farm income first; the fish tier list explains why a steady hatch beats a failed lottery swim.

If a steal keeps failing at the same rock, your Speed is the bug. Combine pool upgrades with the next Trail and retry the same nest until it is boring. Boring steals print more cash than highlight-reel deaths.
